They were going so fast that they ran the boat up on the beach to half the boat's length, for the arms of the rowers were driving her that hard.
What seems strange is that Odysseus wouldn't recognise the harbour he was aiming for, so it's increasingly starting to look as though they did indeed sail to a different harbour, one they knew from before and was known to be safe, most probably Kypos Beach at Cape Lougi.
Harbour of return
One look at the picture of Syvota Bay will make clear this can't have been the drop-off point as the shape of the bay doesn't allow for great speed. For the moment at least, we'll assume the Phaeacians dropped Odysseus off at Cape Lougi, which isn't necessarily the harbour Odysseus intended. This is what Homer writes about the situation when Odysseus awakes:
In good truth the chiefs and rulers of the Phaeacians have not been dealing fairly by me, and have left me in the wrong country. They said they would take me back to Ithaca; and they have not done so.

And so everything seemed strange to the king -the unbroken paths and the harbors suitable for anchorage and the steep cliffs and the blooming trees.
I think by now it's safe to say Odysseus hasn't been delivered on the planned spot, he definitely isn't happy about his escort's efforts!

Syvota Bay
Although Syvota and Cape Lougi are only two kilometres apart, Odysseus doesn't recognise the place, which could mean Rouda Bay isn't part of his kingdom and Syvota Bay was on its outskirts.
