Could it really be possible to hear over such a distance? To test this, I made the friend climb up to Kefallini to test his vocal chords for a bit, while I drove to the palace to await his rumour.

The only way to bring a message to everyone all at once would have been if people were already gathered in one place, at a location that must have led Rumor through the city.

I couldn't hear a thing, not even the church bell carried that far, so there was no way Rumor could have reached everyone from up there. Searching for a possible other location we ended up shouting at each other from Spartias Hill to the city and the palace and vice versa, but it proved impossible.

The hairdresser's rumour was false, the idea of Rumor calling from a single central point had to be abandoned. We could, however, conclude from Rumor's story that the people must've been already gathered and you had to go through the city to get there.
