The Erosion is still going on
The main issue with finding any remains in Spartias is the massive erosion taking place up to this very day. On the left you can see how the soil is exposed to the elements, in the winter rain erodes the hillside a bit further each year, till just the bare rock remains.

The river transports it to the plains. As you can see even with the constant erosion there's only a small part of the hill east of Spartias where the rock has been laid bare, so there's still lots more to be deposited over the area below.
