The Nail
The next day, March 18th clouds obscured the sun. No observations could be made. Fortunately the sun returned the next day March 19th, however it wasn't totally clear either, so observing the shadow of the sun on the north wall was a struggle.

The thin clouds smeared the light and the dark colour of the wall didn't help either. In the short time available I tried to register the sun shining the wall.

A nail in the wall brought a solution, maybe I should focus on the shadow of the sun on the wall. An old nail in the wall seemed to be last resort. Only minutes before the sun disappeared I managed to get some pictures made.

For the naked eye things were obvious, but will the camera of my phone be good enough? Well, just. To make clear the shadow of the nail in the wall I have drawn a yellow line. The shadow of the nail is just above it. See the arrow.

I admit, it is hard to see, the circumstances weren't that well, but yes, the house and the platform are orientated to the sunset on the first day of spring!
