Fairly obviously there are no harbours on this tiny speck of land.
Though the island isn't in the middle of the strait, it is exactly halfway between the harbours of Vasiliki (Ithaca) and Sami (Samos).
The island is now called Daskalio, island of the teacher, one of Homer's epithets.
I think we've found Homer's island Asteris! Let's take a look at the harbours.
