Cees Goekoop
Cees Goekoop, mayor of Leiden in the Netherlands, came up with a beautiful theory about the location of Ithaca. He started his search after questions of his daughter about his grandfather, Adriaan Goekoop, who published about Ithaca in much earlier days. He came to the conclusion that his grantfather must have made a misstake in putting the south of Kefalonia as his Ithaca. Cees Goekoop however found his Ithaca in Errisos the northern peninsula of Kefalonia and published his findings in his book: "Op zoek naar Ithaka" in Dutch.
Cees Goekoop died september 26 2011.
His daughter took the initiative to translate his book in english, so it is in reach for a much larger public now.
I would strongly recomment it to you, although Cees Goekoop's conclusions about his Ithaca are, in my opinion ofcourse, not conclusive.
