Hero
By his act at the leap Odysseus corrects his status from Zero to Hero. His plan was daring, but well planned en very 'Athena'.
It is tragic however that his heroic act of taking the leap is hidden away in the Odyssey and is deliberatly altered and therefore misunderstood for millennia.
Odysseus must have left Ithaca by a small fishing-boat and he eventually found a new home in a new Ionia where the people eat their food unsaltled and even a traveller from afar does not know what an oar is.
Odysseus must have found a new home there with his outstanding wife Penelope. They must have lived there till old age like the 'prophecy' of Tiresias told us.
So, they lived happily ever after.

By the way, isn't it a coincidence that his journey over Ithaca started at the hut of Eumaios where the temple of Artemis was and ended at capo dukato where the temple of Apollo was?
