Mountain Neion
As you can see on the map, there's a mountain (green outline) next to Kastri, our probable Mentes' harbour, which we therefore will assume to be Neion. There's only one beach/harbour far away and opposite from Kastri, which is the one at Vasiliki. There still is a harbour at Vasiliki, at the end of which is a settlement called Ponti. This spot is very popular with windsurfers as its wind conditions are perfect: it's the third best place for windsurfing in Europe. Also, the orientation of Vasiliki's harbour is consistent with the description Homer gave about Athena preparing Telemachos' ship for the voyage to Pylos. So the harbour and long beach at Vasiliki make a credible candidate for the location of the city harbour of Ithaca. We'll see if this assumption will hold up to further scrutiny later on.
