A holiday trip that ended in finding Doulichion, Ithaca and much more.
We decided to drive around the Amvraki Gulf, because we wanted to examine the possibility to integrate Dörpfeld's and Bittlestone's theory into our Found!Doulichion theory, where Lefkada is ancient Ithaca, the 'Unbound' principle took place elsewhere and Doulichion is found!

In May 2009 we followed in the footsteps of Odysseus. It wasn't our original plan, we just went to enjoy the Greek sun, food, drinks, and do some reading and sightseeing. We stayed for a week in the southern village of Vassilikí on the island Lefkada and another week in a small tourist town named Parga on the mainland of Greece. We had travelled through this region before and liked it very much.

To inform myself about the island of Lefkada and the mainland across from Lefkada I used Google (Earth). What piqued my interest was a theory of a famous archeologist called Wilhelm Dörpfeld about the possibility that Lefkada could be the ancient homeland of Odysseus, Ithaca. It became clear that Homer's Odyssey and Iliad were the books I should be reading this trip. I also came across a different theory, by Robert Bittlestone, "Odysseus Unbound".

Halfway through our holiday, we drove from Vassiliki, Lefkada to Parga on the mainland by rental car.
