The report

Earlier that day Telemachos and Theoklymenos returned from the place of assembly at Pyrgi for a bath and lunch about 13:00 hours. Penelope sits with them.

This is a strange story. The resourceful and shrewd Odysseus forced to stay at Kalypso? And why didn't Menelaos took action and sent his ships to pick him up? And why didn't he inform Penelope about it? Why didn't Telemachos sail from Pylos to the island of Kalypso? And why did Odysseus sail off that easy by building a raft on the 22nd of november when he wanted to? A lot of questions, there is something wrong here!

And when they finished their lunch about 13:20? Penelope said:

Telemachos surely I will go into my upper chamber to lie down on the bed, which has become a bed of wailing for me, ever wet with my tears, ever since Odysseus went off to Troy with the sons of Atreus. But you have not made plain to me -befor the noble suitors come into the house- concerning your father's homecomming, whether you have heard something.

It is time for the siesta, Penelope is going to rest soon. She wants a report of his findings in Pylos and Sparta before the suitors come in.
Menelaos told Telemachos in Sparta what he had heard from the Old Man of the Sea. Apparently he cann't reveal the source of this information.

He said that he had seen Odysseus on an island, suffering sad constraint in the halls of the nymph Kalypso, who holds him by force. And he cannot come home to the land of his fathers because he does not have a ship at hand with oars, nor companions who could send him home over the broad back of the sea. So Telemachos spoke and it stirred the heart within Penelope's breast.
