Χθαμαλι (low-lying) means north and Ithaca is located north-west which makes Lefkada ancient Ithaca.
Ancient Ithaca was an island before digging the canal.

Ancient Ithaca was renamed Lefkada (Leucas) after reopening or widening the existing tsunamigenic canal.
The old name (which isn't recorded) must have been Ithaca.

The composition of the islands, Doulichion included, fits perfectly with ancient Ithaca's location.

The size of Doulichion (Acarnania), Lefkada, Kefalonia and Zakynthos fits the amount of suitors, supposedly from those islands, which would make them ancient Doulichion, Ithaca, Samos and Zakynthos, respectively.

The missing islands in the east are uncovered: Crocyleia and Doulichion, making Ithaki ancient Aigilips.
The size of Doulichion fits Acarnania, Acarnania and the Echinai lie opposite Elis like Homer's Doulichion did.
Doulichion means oblong and so is Acarnania.
Homer did not leave out Acarnania in the cataloque of ships, he called it Doulichion.
Homer's sequence makes locating Crocyleia and Aigilips easy.

Acarnania isn't an island to us now, like Lefkada wasn't to Strabo, but it is almost completely surrounded by water. We did find Doulichion!
